For the first time in several years, Carnegie brought back the car cruise for a great Cruising on Main event. More than 100 classic, antique and vintage vehicles parked on East Main Street on July 2018 for a car cruise organized by the Carnegie Borough Police Department.
Cruising on Main brought a lot of drivers and admirers to the area which helped with fundraising efforts and exposure to local businesses. The event was raising funds for the Carnegie Volunteer Fire Department. Through a 50/50 raffle, Chief Jeffrey Kennedy said the event raised $210.
Both Chief Kennedy and Mayor Riley are hoping to make this event annual. The Carnegie community has a great walking district to be able to feature businesses along with cars. “The community wanted us to bring it back,” Kennedy said. “We’re going to start doing them more often in Carnegie.” The next cruise event is scheduled to be around Septemeber so keep an eye out for more information.
